Signs and Symbols of the Vitruvian Man

I will discuss Leonardo da Vinci’s drawing, the Vitruvius Man, in upcoming live-streaming sessions. Talking about this symbol of the ideal man, read the post, Total Life Changes Honors Gabriela Ortiz With Vitruvian Award. I have received the opportunity to check out a forthcoming AI product / service, provided my TLC.

In the next episode of Pluck the Day, I will talk about affiliate and referral marketing, and how you could integrate this money making activity in your daily worklife.

Mayday Call in May and Third Time is The Charm

In the next episode of Tea Party Media podcast, I will make a mental Mayday distress call and tell about my situation as I am open to work and being ”unemployable” at the same time. I have failed forward a couple of times, and now it is time to get ”lucky”… ;)

With that said, I am getting convinced that I am at the right place at the right time. Please, stay tuned for more content on new media, business philosophy, and the good life (including tea). Next Saturday, on my birthday, I will learn how to add stuff to my tea.

Check out:

As an ending note, have you planned for ”Beach ’24”? :) I will test LiveGood’s new product, Lean (Body Composition Improvement Formula), during the upcoming summer season…

The Tangram Life Puzzle

Here is an excerpt from my latest photo post on Instagram:

Maybe I can't see the forest for the trees? I have to come to the conclusion that I have to add additional pieces to the Tangram life puzzle. I miss Fizzle’s palapa online community. I have to check out Zen Business. Do you have a favorite digital town hall? I will join a new business network in the near future. It is called Booster Friends. Where do you go for business mixers?

I am starting my well-being journey on March 20, the Persian New Year, Nowruz. These are my phrases for the year:

๐Ÿง ๐Ÿค๐Ÿงก Value Each Other (VEO advisor)

๐ŸŽง⚡️๐ŸŽ™ Value 4 Value (Podcasting 2.0 certified)

๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ฐ Purchasing Power w/ a Membership Club (LiveGood affiliate)

I will also come up with my three words for the year in the near future...

Today I am celebrating 1 year as an affiliate (”independent distributor”) with LiveGood. I have a team of about 40 individuals (affiliates and members). My goal is to reach the next rank, gold, during this year. I strive to introduce 100 individuals (affiliate members, regular members, and retails customers) to this new type of e-commerce.

I will continue to purchase products from other direct selling companies, e.g., microsilver products from LR Health & Beauty Systems, and I am open to become a retail customer to other companies.

I have been involved in several network marketing during the years, and I have learned plenty from the MLM (multi-level marketing) industry. The good, the bad, and the ugly… For example my activities in a chocolate company, had some bittersweet memories. I did a search on the net now, and found this piece of document

I am taking into account my experiences from a cashback company and a travel company, as I am looking into this new company.

Check out Ben Glinsky’s commentary on ”golden handcuffs” in the business world. (LiveGood Firestarter-Friday Training Zoom, March 8. CEO, Ben Glinsky starts his positive rant, around the 20 min. mark).

GLOBAL REACH FOR LOCAL BUSINESS

This Make-A-Referral-Monday I want to refer you to a longtime friend, Christer Sjรถback of SJC Gold and Silver Handicrafts, and a new acquaintance. The title is inspired by BNI's new network project called BNI Connect and a reference to a part of the business name (GlobalReach Copywriting) of my new connection, Ann-Christin Lindstedt of USEGlobalReach.com.

From the post, Episode 154: “25 Years of BNI”:

BNI is now working on the single largest project in its history: BNI Connect, which not only integrates an online social network with the in-person networking, but connects chapters around the world to each other. Watch for the catchphrase “Local Business, Global Network,” which BNI has trademarked. (BNIpodcast.com, 05/12/10)

Christer wants to reach new customers in North America and Ann-Christin wants to establish new business relations in Scandinavia.

What do you say? Could you give referrals to Christer Sjรถback and Ann-Christin Lindstedt?

Say What?

BENEVOLENT SOCIAL MEDIA UNIVERSE

Do you want to see an example of the Benevolent Universe Premise in action?

Jennifer Iannolo's (@foodphilosophy) message on Twitter:

Sometimes when bad things happen, a hero like @shlevy steps in. I am so incredibly honored by this post. Thank you. http://bit.ly/bpOW6c (04/13/10)

From  Shea Levy's post, A Truly Worthy Cause:

Through her tweets at @foodphilosophy, her blog posts at Food Philosophy, her work with the Culinary Media Network, and her efforts to make Sex On a Plate revolutionize the way we experience food, Jennifer is an inspiration and an amazing example of a woman who loves life on a visceral, emotional, and intellectual level and who works to make life even better. Unfortunately, her apartment was broken into recently and, among other things, her laptop was stolen. If ever there was a person who deserved assistance in facing a crisis that occurred through no fault of her own, it's Jenn. Whether you want to consider it a payment for her past work or an investment to allow her to continue producing amazing things, please consider donating to the fund I've set up to help her replace her laptop. The donation is through Paypal, and you can get to the donation page by clicking this link, clicking the button below, or clicking the button on the sidebar. (Cogito's Thoughts, 04/12/10.)

Click on the Donate button (powered by PayPal):

If you want to support her work, buy her & Mark Tafoya's book, The Gilded Fork - Entertaining At Home: A Year of Dinner Parties.

I want to create a "sassfully delicious" drink for Jennifer Iannolo... Do you have any suggestions? Maybe I should make a Margarita with a twist?

POKEN SOCIAL MEDIA BUSINESS CARD

[Editor's note to Stephen Smith: I am still working on the draft of my "Evolution of EGO workspace" post.]

Oprichter van poken / Founder of Poken DoYouPokenImage by Erwin Boogert via Flickr

After I watched Robert Scoble's interview with Stรฉphane Doutriaux, founder & CEO of Poken, I got a strong desire to get this kind of new digital business card that you could use to share your social media online profiles with people you meet.

I want to order a 12 pack of Pokens so I could start sharing them to my friends and business contacts. It would be a perfect give away gadget to members of your social & business networks. I am also interested in joining Poken's "viral distribution network." I want to spread the good word about this new type of business card. I have some ideas on organizations, businesses and individuals that could be interested in this gadget. I think that their vision is described in a nice way (How Does It Work):

We’re not another social network. You’ve already got that.
We've thought bigger to let you instantly bridge the gap between the people you meet in the real world and those you stay connected to online.
So, do you poken ?

Here is another excerpt from the site (FAQ):

Why do I have to carry around an extra gadget? Isn't there some way to do this in my phone?

Sort of but not really. Since the beginning of mobile phones and PDAs there have been myriad proposed solutions to easy sharing of contact information or "replacing the business card." To show our age, several members of Poken's staff fondly remember beaming vCards in infrared between our Palm Pilots back in the day. However, nothing has ever emerged as a standard for a couple of reasons. The first inhibitor has been hardware/OS/application fragmentation--basically different phones often can't talk well with others. Recently there have been more and more hardware/OS/application-independent phone solutions for contact exchange via BlueTooth or visual codes. However, these also have not really caught on. We believe that it is because the user interfaces too unwieldy, requiring the user to type in codes, launch applications, etc.

Our solution is meant to address these issues by providing an extremely simply mechanism for contact exchange: the high-four. It is natural and it mimics the way we interact with other humans every day. The security is built into the hardware so there are no codes to enter and no risk of someone stealing your information. It requires a small, extra hardware device to carry around so we've designed that device to be cool and fun--something we hope you would like to carry around with you anyway. Perhaps we're tilting at windmills by trying to create a social replacement for the business card, but we really think we're on to something!

Attorney business card 1895Image via Wikipedia

I think that this device could the answer to my question on how I should store contact information in the future. I still have to come up with a solution for the regular business card, as I say in my comment on the post, Poken: It’s Silly, And It’s Meant to Replace Your Business Card by Robert Scoble. Are you using CardScan, CloudContacts or Evernote in order to capture data of business cards?

It is interesting to read about their product plans for the future. Here is an excerpt from Josh Bernoff's post, What we can learn from Poken.

The Poken has two parts. One is a plastic shell which you choose to reflect the some side of your identity -- mine is a little tiger. The other is the little hand part, which has a USB connector. You plug the Poken into your computer, it connects to the Poken site, and you enter as many of your social network IDs (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) as you're willing to share. Then you carry it around with you. If you meet somebody else you want to befriend, you "high-four" them, your Pokens exchange ID information when they come in close proximity, and the little light glows to tell you it worked. When you get home you can connect to your computer and see the information from your new friends. It's like exchanging a business card, only quicker and with more info. (Forrester, July 19, 2009.)

Do you want to keep in touch in new cool way? Here is my proposal to my friends, business contacts and supporters. I want to buy a 12-pack of Pokens, but I can't afford to pay all of them by myself at once at the moment. If you want to get one piece of Poken and help me get going with this project, please contact me by email and we could discuss the details. I was thinking of collecting circa $ USD 20 per person / Poken and then order the kit of 12 Pokens when I have got about $ 180 in total. The total price, including the shipping cost, is stated to be $ 201. I will give away one Poken to a special person of the pool of buyers.

AU H2O TEE SHIRT BUSINESS

I had to pay a short visit on my blog after I read Andy (Exalted Moments) Clarkson's post, Are Conservatives Going To Save Socialism Again?

I saw a Project Wonderful ad by RetroCampaigns.com on my blog. I have to get this classical political t-shirt: Goldwater Periodic Table - Au (Aurum - Gold) & H20 (Hydrogen x 2 & oxygen - Water), i.e., Goldwater. [Editor's comment: You probably know my interest in gold (Aurum). I will tell you more about my new interest in water later on...]

LIVE FREE OR DIE

I prefer to do some catblogging instead of talking politics, after the recent incidents in Sweden and America.

Do you see "camouflage" Morris?

But after an exchange with Larry Robiner on Twitter, I had to write a post on today's situation and what could come in the future.

@lyceum yes, "everything is possible" in free America, including the election of George W. Bush to president. TWICE! Why is that so great??
3:33 PM Jun 21st from Seesmic Desktop in reply to lyceum

@LRobiner Here is an example of "American in spirit," my post http://bit.ly/NvNZB
3:19 PM Jun 21st from web in reply to LRobiner

@lyceum what does it mean to be "an American in spirit"?
2:24 PM Jun 21st from Seesmic Desktop

and now a word from George Orwell...

I would have been hesitant to vote for George W. Bush the second time around. The first time I would probably vote for him on his "cowboy merits," and as a protest vote against Al Gore. I wonder what will happen next. Could supporters and the leading members of the "Grand Old Party" get their act together and find a decent candidate next time? I am not sure about that. The problem is what you could end up with Hillary Clinton as a "comeback kid"... I don't think that Obama will manage another period.

Here is an excerpt from Glenn Beck's interview with Barry Goldwater, Jr.:

GOLDWATER: And we have a two-party system and that system basically, historically has worked well.

I think the Republicans have gotten off-track. My father, Senator Goldwater, set the tone for the conservative movement back in 1964, established a philosophy which appealed to a lot of people and still do today — and that's less government, protecting our liberties, personal freedom, personal responsibility, a strong national defense and a free market.

Those are the core principles that Senator Goldwater and also Ronald Reagan adhered to, were spokesmen for and governed by.

But in the '70s, all of a sudden, under Ronald Reagan, they started to embrace religion. And they began getting these personal issues into the political spectrum. And as a result, we're — we are constantly debating wedge issues — like abortion, prayer in the schools and the definition of marriage.

And we've gotten distracted and away from those core principles. And the Republican Party needs to get back to that. (Fox News, June 3, 2009.)

Listen to Yaron Brook's speech at the Republican Party of Virginia 2009 State Convention (Part 2 of 2). You could listen to the first part if you go to the featured video section on this blog.

On a personal level, I am very interested to find the right political climate in my future "neighborhood". Please continue to give me tips on places that you think could match my views and profile. How did you celebrate Flag Day? How will you celebrate Independence Day? Are you attending a tea party? Read Sylvia Bokor's post, Tea Parties and Going John Galt: America's New Direction?, Edward Cline's post, The New Sons of Liberty and Zev Barnett's post, In Defense of Liberty as intellectual ammunition and preparation for the future...

DISQUS AND SHARE THIS BLOG POST

I have added the ShareThis feature to the blog, so you could now share my blog posts on different social media networking and bookmarking tools. I have to check out the sharebox and contact manager in the near future.

I am thinking of adding Disqus to my new Ego Sole Trader site sometime in the future. I like how Travis Campbell of MarketingProfessor.com has added a Disqus interface to his site.

EGO GIFT TO TWITTER FOLLOWER NO 1000

I will give a gift from one of my EGO online stores to the follower #1000.

"Rules":

  1. The follower has to be followed back by me. The follower has to fit my personal touchstones.
  2. The follower has to write a #GoodThing tweet before I decide if the person should get the prize.
  3. The winner has to be an EGO "ambassador" and walking "billboard" and take a photo of the EGO gear and publish it online.

Do you agree with Morris the cat that I will have 1000 followers around mid April? Could the butterfly effect come into play? I am number 15 on the #tea tag list on Kevin Rose's site WeFollow at the moment. For more on Twitter, read Anita Campbell's post, The Ultimate Small Business Twitter List Has Grown.

US COMMON SENSE

Here is an excerpt from U.S. Common Sense's website review of EGO [Editor's note: Please read the comments on the post.]:

EGO derives its name from Egoist; a person who is devoted to their own interest and advancement. It is this ideal that many American’s possessed to become successful. It is also a good description of bloggers everywhere - including myself – since we strive to advance our understanding of politics while exploring our interests in a public format. In his quest for advancement, Martin provides the readers three formats to choose from in order to learn about his positions and views on economics and politics. When I first started writing this review, I wasn’t sure how to address this without including his other two sites in the review as well. This multi-site format is unique to our current list of reviewed websites, so let me take a moment to cover them in brief.

The first site is Martin’s primary blog. EGO is a multipurpose website (a “pundit style” as he calls it) covering politics, capitalism, blogging, religion, military, and more. Narrowing the scope of the review down to politics and capitalism, you get a good sense of where he would fit within the American society. With a keen interest in U.S. free-market system and philosophical references to Ayn Rand, Martin could easily find a home in the United States. If you look at his post “Christopher Cox at the Securities and Exchange Commission,” you get a feel of his pundit style. With 20 separate links in one post, Martin discusses the appointment of Mr. Cox to the SEC and the criticisms and praises Cox received for his acceptance of the philosophy of Ayn Rand towards corporations and free enterprise. (UScommonsense.net, February 26, 2009.)

I will contribute with links and materials to Political Blog Weekly section now and then. Please feel free to send me tips on interesting stuff that could fit. I will inform U.S. Common Sense about Paul Hsieh's post, Ayn Rand and the Tea Party Protests, for the next edition.

PAJAMAS MEDIA AND BLOGADS

I have had Pajamas Media ads on my blog for a long time, but I took it down after I updated my template. At one point I earned some money but later on my blog didn't made the cut according to the new traffic requirements. My blog is belonging to the long tail of the blogosphere, as described in Justin Gardner's post, More On Pajamas Media Business Model:

Now, according to PJM’s own list of network bloggers, there are only 60 sites in the network. And probably only 20% of them hit that 1,000,000 impressions per quarter. Basically, a good rule of thumb is that you usually get 80% of your traffic from 20% of your posts/site/etc., so let’s just apply that reasoning here to PJM’s stated 29,000,000 cumulative impressions a month. (Donklephant, 02/02/09.)

Here are some other posts on the situation:

During the whole time, I kept my BlogAds space. Most of the PJ network bloggers signed exclusively up for ads served via Pajamas Media ad network, but according to the deal, you could keep your other advertising sources at a certain level, if you wanted. Here is my pitch on BlogAds:

Join the Second Renaissance! Reach international readers who are rational individuals and defenders of the Western world.
