EGO Interview with Josh Elledge

From my conversation with Josh Elledge, you will learn how he built a business empire by being frugal, finding great deals. A funny tidbit is our conversation about the weather in Florida and Josh's "issue" with umbrellas.

This episode was recorded on September 12, with the Ringr app. I downloaded the recording (audio format: mono mix, sample rate 44 kHz, Flac, 101.7 MB) to my MacBook and then did the post production with Auphonic(112 kbps, mp3, 46.4 MB). Podcasting equipment: iPhone 6S Plus, iRig Mic Cast microphone, and SnapRecorder portable recording booth.

Here is short excerpt from Josh's media kit page:

If you are a regular listener to EGO NetCast, you know that I like a "raw format" of the recording, without too much of editing and post-production work. Due to some changes to the iOS audio pipeline, you could hear aslight "echoey" sound in the beginning of our conversation.
Kris of Ringr helped me out and manually cleaned up the recording.

More show notes and links for this episode will be found at www.egonetcast.com/blog in the near future.

BEVERAGE POLL AND PODCAST SURVEY

I am interested to hear about your favorite beverage! Vote for coffee, tea, or water in the poll in the right column. Grab a mug or glass with your drink of choice, and please take a moment and fill out the podcast survey for EGO NetCast.

PIECES OF EIGHT

Have you heard the expression, "pieces of eight"? Here is an excerpt from The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's site, History.org:

The Spanish influence on the American monetary system is still evident today. The one ounce silver coin was eight reales. This "piece of eight" could be fractioned into halves (four reales) or quarters (two reales) much as we do with modern dollars. The modern stock market also operates in eighths of dollars.

The crowdfunding campaign for my forthcoming first book on tea, has now reached 1/8 of the goal. From my update, Pieces of Eight:

This evening I had a talk on Matcha green tea, together with a tea tasting. My fourth book is planned to be on this kind of green tea in powder form. After the talk and tea tasting, the event organizer passed around a tip jar for donations of my first book on tea with illustrations by John Cox. ... I have now reached the "pieces of eight" ($250 donated so far) milestone... ;) The goal is to get $2000 in total, so I can back John, with enough funds, for the creation of the illustrations for the first book on black tea.

MOBILE PAGE LEVEL ADS

I checked my earnings on the Google AdSense's section on the Blogger dashboard, and found out about the new advertising options (anchor / overlay and vignette formats) for mobile devices.

What do you think about these page-level ads for smartphones and tablets?

EGO Interview with Brian Peters

I learned from my conversation with Brian Peters that you could auto"magically" manage your new media accounts and be a social media evangelist at the same time. As a former purchaser, it gave me a kick to learn about a company without regular sales people. I wonder what a Happiness Hero is reading at the moment?
This episode was recorded on August 9, with the Ringr app. I downloaded the recording (audio format: mono mix, sample rate 44 kHz, Flac, 114.6 MB) to my MacBook and then did the post production with Auphonic (112 kbps, mp3, 53.1 MB). Podcasting equipment: iPhone 6S Plus, iRig Mic Cast microphone, and SnapRecorder portable recording booth.

EGO Podcaster is Just Doing It

This is a meta episode of EGO NetCast, spending some time on the development of my podcasting. I recently reached a milestone of 500 downloads of my conversation with Jon Ferrara.

Could this be my break, after 10 years, since I started my first podcast on Soild Vox
I am including a screen dump of the general stats from the dashboard of my Libsyn account. You could see a nice trend line over a period of 3 months.

Did you know that overall median download number is 173 on Libsyn?
I have been thinking of the future of my podcasting for some time.

A Direct Message question from Chris Reimer on podcasting, made my day, giving me another sign that I am on the right way, if I stick with it for the long run…
I have subscribed to Karin Hoegh's e-course on podcasting. In the second issue she talks about what is the meaning of having a podcast and what should come out of your podcasting. Her email gave me food for thought and here are my answers to the questions on goal, strategy, ambition and success factor.
  1. My goal is to spread better ideas regarding new media, business philosophy, and the good life (including tea).
  2. The strategy is to give moral support and resources to business minded individuals, in an educational, engaging and entertaining way.
  3. My ambition is to give the listeners and readers food for thought, and inspire them to take action and achieve their values through social media, business and personal activities. They should feel free to reach out to me, if they are interested to learn more about the good life, including tea drinking.
  4. The success factor is to continue with solo shows and interviews as a guide for implementing ideas into actions, based on the teachings from Lyceum, Aristotle's school in Athens, and others that have beeninspired by his philosophy, e.g., Will Durant.

I will create my own success by participating in Fizzle's course, Start a Blog that Matters. [Editor's note: Affiliate links.]
In the next solo show I will talk about my struggle with the podcasting workflow, and I will mention guests in the pipeline, ways to support EGO NetCast, etc.
I celebrated my milestone with drinking the fine tea, Darjeeling First Flush SFTG FOP1 (Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe). Is this tea "Far Too Good For Ordinary People"? ;)

ANNUAL BLOG REPORT XIV

I have now been blogging for 14 years and published 2770 posts. Pageviews so far: 809,347.

I haven't been active on this blog during the year, but I will keep blogging here now and then.

I will do an update on my birthday on May 25 with a special podcast episode, celebrating 10 years since I started podcasting. I will also do a snap on Snapchat (username: TeaPartyMedia), thanking the backers and supporters of my book(s) writing project, #teaftwbook.

THANKS TO COMMIT ACTION

I was the lucky winner of an iPad Air in Commit Action's sweepstakes on Facebook, by Peter Shallard. It is funny that I mentioned Peter Shallard's blog post, Why Inbox Zero works and Tim Ferriss is wrong about email, in the first issue of my newsletter, Lyceum Bulletin.

Here is my unboxing Vine video:
Hat tip to Bryan Armentrout for his nice congrats comment on Facebook.

As a sidenote: I had to pay circa $100 in customs, taxes, and fees, for this gift. As supporter of free trade, this is another example of protectionism by the Swedish state. If you want to support a "poor" capitalist, you could send a donation via PayPal.

3 WORDS FOR 2016

I haven't updated my first blog since my 13th annual blog report. I will continue with EGO blog, here on Blogger / Blogspot, but I will not write so often in the future. My main focus will be to update my forthcoming "umbrella" site, TeaParty.Media, for my social media activities and tea hobby business.

Please, check out my crowdfunding campaign for my first book on tea, over at GoGetFunding.com.

On this blog, I will publish cat photos, philosophical ideas and retro blogging stuff, e.g., blog carnivals, memes, etc.

My three words for 2016:

  1. Tea
  2. Win
  3. Book

Do you have 3 words (or more / less) for this year?
