TERROR THREATS IN THE AIR...

After reading Moxie's post, I had to write something about the latest terror alerts. I am really getting worried about the situation in the aviation industry. Look at this timeline for the British Airways flight 223 (London - Washington). The Mirror published a story titled, She Bomber, on January 3. [Hat tip to the Concord Crier, 01/05/04.]

In the news: U.S. Won't Raise Level of Terror Alert.

POLITICAL REFORM IN IRAN?

Here is an excerpt from Amir Taheri's article, Reading Iran Wrong [via Free Iran News]:

"And neither faction is proposing any radical reform of any aspects of the Khomeinist system. Both reject the almost unanimous call of the opposition parties and movements for a constitutional referendum. Both claim legitimacy on the basis not of the people's will but of their fidelity to the teachings of Khomeini."

MODERN TRASH AT MUSEUM

Here is another example of modern "art" (read: trash). The Museum of National Antiquities in Sweden (Stockholm) has an "installation" called "Snow White And The Madness Of Truth." Zvi Mazel, Ambassador of Israel, took action and expressed his anger by "re-shaping" the "installation"... Click here for a video. Here is a description of the "art" exhibit:

"The artwork consisted of a rectangular basin filled with red fluid. A boat floated on top carrying a portrait of Hanadi Jaradat, who killed herself and 22 Israelis in an attack on a restaurant in the northern Israeli city of Haifa in October." [Reuters.]

Mrten Barck (Watch) has more about the terrorist bomber, Hanadi Jaradat.

UPDATE 01/18/04: In the news:
Israeli envoy to Sweden pulls plug on exhibit glorifying suicide bomber.

For a background on the "artists" and their political views, read the petition "Jewish Manifesto: Sharon is Israel's Worst Enemy" by the organization, Jews for Israeli - Palestinian Peace. THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY

My long-range goal is to return to the freest country in the world. I am glad that Bush is giving the opportunity for more individuals to come to America and work, but I think it should be open for anybody to live in the United States of America as long as you don't infringe on the rights of other individuals, or you are a potential threat to the safety of the country. I understand that Bush's gesture is a way of going after the "Hispanic-vote," but I think it is good that the issue of immigration is coming up for discussion. I hope it will be a constructive debate and that it will end up with a good solution, i.e. deregulation and a freer job market. You don't have handouts and minimum wage in my kind of world.

DEMONSTRATIONS IN HONG KONG

What's going on in Hong Kong? Read Radio Free Asia's report, More Democracy Protests Likely In Hong Kong.

I wonder if Spike magazine will write about Hong Kong's "Personality Of The Year 2003"... Tung Chee Hwa got less than 5% of the vote! My guess is that "Chief Executive" Tung will have a tough time to deliver his policy address. I wonder if he has read Stephen Vines' memo, Carry on spinning. DON'T NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORIST NATIONS!

I hope Bush will keep a steady course against the Axis of Evil and not come up with a compromise of "reconciliation" or policy shift. Intelligence Minister Ali Yunesi in Iran, President Bashar Assad of Syria, Kim Jong Il of North Korea, and Libya's Prime Minister Shukri Ghanim are all using blackmail, threats, and "bait-and-switch" tactics in order to stay in power. Could you guess what the "peace loving" leaders of Iran & Syria are planning? They want the Middle East to become a zone free of nuclear weapons!

Did you watch the interview with Reza Pahlavi?
