In the news: Starbucks closes to learn how to make coffee - The Guardian.

Hannah Clark of Inc.com is asking the question: How can Starbucks get its groove back?

Starbucks Gossip is informing that Dunkin' Donuts will offer cheap espresso drinks while Starbucks is closed today for three hours.

SHARING BOOKMARKS

Do you want to share bookmarks with me? Check out AnyCircle.com and start adding links. I picked www.43WSDR.com as my Type-Any-Circle-Of-Six.com page. [Editor's comment: I will remember the unique URL by thinking of 43 folders time management system + World Site + DRive] I haven't had time to add many links yet and I have only edited the default page a bit.

ISLAMIST ENTANGLEMENT BY POWELL HISTORY

Here is an announcement on Scott Powell's site Powell History:

The Islamist Entanglement starts February 20th! Live classes in this latest exciting installment of A First History for Adults™ will run Wednesday evenings by teleconference, so don't delay your registration. Learn more on the course webpage. (PowellHistory.com)

The whole course has ten lectures (15 hours in total). The regular price for the course is $249 ($199 for students). If you want to have a sample of the course, try a single lecture for $20. [Editor's note: Please come back and read an update of this post. Scott Powell has told me that he has an idea for a special offer for European customers.]

The first lecture starts in 1683 in Vienna... [Editor's comment: Get a croissant, bagel and a cup of coffee and dig into the course! Maybe the readers of Gates of Vienna could be interested in this lecture?]

UPDATE 02/20/08:

Here is Scott Powell's special offer:

Here's my offer to new European students of Powell History. The first respondent from any European country that e-mails me at: scott@powellhistory.com will be able to hear the first lecture of the course for free. Then, if they are interested to continue, they can take the course for $100 OFF ($149, instead of $249!!!).

The offer is only open to the first person that snaps it up from each separate country. To get the free lecture, advise people to send me an e-mail with their country name in the title, e.g. something like "Powell History *Denmark* Offer". That way I can easily tell who's first and what countries have responded by scanning my inbox.

OBJECTIVIST BLOGGERS AND BIOSHOCK

Mark Wickens of Randex has noted several pieces on BioShock and Objectivism. [Editor's comment: I am not especially interested in playing the game, but I hope that some "gamers" pick up a book by Ayn Rand.]

I have added two blogrolls with Objectivist bloggers (OBloggers).

PACE TRAINING

I have tested PACE (Programmed Aerobic/Anaerobic/ Accommodating Circuit Exercise) training. I enjoyed this kind of exercise and I will participate in another training session soon again. From Pro*Fit Enterprises' Q&A page:

PACE is a fun, non-threatening group exercise program that quickly and safely changes your body shape. PACE utilizes hydraulic resistance machines that match the effort of the user at any fitness level (we call it accommodating resistance). PACE is fun, fast and it produces results quickly. WEB STUFF IN ONE PLACE

I am testing out the new beta version (Ginger) of Netvibes. I am also using Pageflakes as my new home page. I have sent a request to PageOnce. It could be your "personal internet assistant"... [Editor's comment: Do you think you could get all your stuff in one place?] If you want to stay on top of things, check out Guy Kawasaki's Alltop site.

ISLAMIST STREET GANG TERROR

It is good to see that the Danes are sticking to their guns.

If you want to get a good history lesson, check out Scott Powell's course, The Islamist Entanglement. Read Nicholas Provenzo's Q&A post with Scott Powell on 'The Islamist Entanglement'.

WONDERFUL WORLD OF ART BY ROBERT TRACY

I have received the book, Art Of Robert Tracy, with selected works by Robert Tracy. I agree with the reviews by Robert Knapp, Marvin Steel and Ben Reed. You will get plenty of fuel for your soul with this book. 75 pages of inspiration for your daily life. [Editor's note: You will find my favorite on page 38.] The format of the book is very handy, so you could it easily take it with you on a journey. At the same time, it will be the perfect addition to the coffee table. Have a glass of spirits (page 21), sit back, relax and enjoy the benevolent place (page 45) created by an artist at a sunlit location, nearby a covered bridge (page 72) somewhere in the Midwest... From Robert Tracy's post, Edge of the World:

To me it brought to mind the wonderful world out there. The clear blue sky and all the world is good. (Illustrated Ideas, 01/09/08.)
